A collection of class assignments created by students in the Intro to Documentary Video Editing course at the Center for Documentary Studies in winter 2009.
Edit a 1-3 minute video that is the process of picture framing. How will you condense the time? What music will you choose (if any), and how will that affect the mood and character of the piece, the person, the process?
Establishing Place
Create a 1-3 minute video that incorporates interview and "b-roll." Let us learn something about the place where the interview occurs, which is also (to some extent) the topic of the interview.
First Assignments: Home (I and II)
Create a short (00:30-1:30) piece on the topic "home" using still images and music. Then create a piece on the same topic, but don't use music. Use natural, ambient, or "found" sound instead.
